Times Free Press: Opinion: Tennessee expands programs for foster care, adoptions as heartbeat law goes into effect

Critics of Tennessee's heartbeat abortion law that went into effect following the United States Supreme Court's Dobbs decision this summer argue it eventually will lead to a sharp rise in children in foster care….

Earlier this year, the nonprofit Adoption Project was launched -- with two people who worked in either the Bill Haslam or Lee governmental administration as its principals -- to reduce the number of children aging out of foster care and to make the adoption process easier. Several current state commissioners either sit on the organization's board or its policy committee….
